Gorse: Remedy from the set of the Seven HelpersAbout this musicPerformed as a piano solo piece only to date A slow D minor waltz with an epic tragic quality. There is a sort of defiance as the life force is restored as the opening theme comes back fortissimo. Lyrics for GorseGorse is an instrumental piece. About Gorse, the Bach Flower RemedyThe Helpers are necessary, Bach saw, because many people have accepted into themselves the idea that they cannot change. There is then a sort of overlay of a chronic emotional state which so dominates the personality that the Type cannot be recognised. Gorse is the first of these Helper remedies. It is not a Type remedy, but something which can help unblock someone to find out what their Type Remedy actually is. Gorse shakes and reawakens the mentality of someone who has long been ill and has become resigned to fate. It challenges the assumption that nothing can be done. It is a Remedy for people whose desire to become well again has actually stopped. The Gorse plant reflects exactly this gesture of mind. To rasie the energy of the Gorse state a powerful plant is needed with a ferocious will to live. A flower which is sensitive and delicate yet strong and ablaze with light. Gorse grows on open hillsides, on woodland, heaths and commons. Generally it grows in massed clumps. It is the collective energy of the species that is needed to lift the energy of the Gorse state of mind. Gorse lacks the individuality of the Type remedies but has a huge collective strength. A landscape plant, it paints the hillside golden yellow. There is a sense that Gorse draws down the light and burns like flames on the land. Gorse has a very long flowering period – from November to June – and there is the sense that it is there bringing life at a time when most plants are appearing to be dormant. Gorse is a celebration of death and Resurrection throughout the darkness of winter. Standing in the midst of Gorse in April every sense is awakened and stimulated, just as the flower remedy stimulates the life force. The small swords that cover the pushes jab at the state of resignation, forcing a person to more effort. The spiky leaves of the Gorse bush interlock to provide a woven mat of support. People in a Gorse state need this web of support – they should not be left alone. This account of this Bach Flower Remedy is based on the book Bach Flower Remedies : Form and Function by Julian Barnard. For full information see HealingHerbs.co.uk→. |
